As part of Work Package 3 on capacity-strengthening, the project has developed a dedicated training programme on the nexus between pollution crime and corruption, building directly on the findings of ENCORE’s Training Needs Assessment (TNA) report.
Learning objectives
- Build a solid, shared baseline knowledge of pollution crime and corruption, and of how the two intersect in practice.
- Familiarise with the relevant EU and international legal and institutional frameworks.
- Develop specialised knowledge of persisting and emerging threats, and master the investigative, analytical and technological tools available to address them.
- Strengthen inter-agency and international cooperation and exchange expertise among practitioners across jurisdictions.
Who can apply
The ENCORE training is dedicated to law enforcement authorities operating in the fields of pollution crime and corruption across EU Member States and non-EU countries as well as relevant practitioners engaged through international networks such as INTERPOL, EUROPOL and EnviCrimeNet. Police and customs officers, investigators and environmental inspectorates, judges and prosecutors, and other relevant law enforcement practitioners are invited to apply. Representatives of institutions which are not law enforcement agencies are not eligible to apply. No prior specialisation is required for Session 1.
Programme structure
The programme is structured into three macro-sessions, each comprising modules delivered by different expert speakers. Sessions progress from basic to advanced level.
